Traditional style worship services @ 8:30 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary
Fort Walton Beach First has a strong commitment to an active Christ centered music program with a rich and long tradition. We strive to maintain that tradition through offering an authentic traditional United Methodist worship experience.
Contemporary style worship @ 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall
First Harvest is a Contemporary Worship Service that can be categorized as adult contemporary Christian pop interspersed with traditional hymns done in a modern arrangement.
This service is led by a live band, Balaam's Donkey. The name of our band comes from Numbers 22. We figure that if God can use a donkey, then He can surely use us. To learn more about the worship team CLICK HERE.
What should I wear?
You'll see people in a large range of styles from suits, to business casual and even jeans. Come how you feel comfortable.
As many of you know we are in the midst of creating a whole new worship experience for our church.
We will not have an 11:00 a.m. Traditional nor an 11:00 a.m. Contemporary worship service as we currently
know them. These services will give way to a brand new worship service, New Traditions. This
new service will be in the genre called Ancient-Future worship as was adopted unanimously by the
January Administrative Board meeting following the recommendation from the Worship Study Group/
Task Force:
worship service and the 11:00 a.m. Traditional worship service. In their place will be a “New Traditions
Service” at the 11:00 a.m. hour in the sanctuary. The new service will integrate the great traditions
of the ancient church such as the Psalter, Creed, Lord’s Prayer and Eucharist mixed with modern
worship music accompanied by acoustic instruments mixed with gospel favorites and ancient hymns
accompanied by the piano and organ.
There will be several preview services in the near future to introduce this new worship style and work
through the kinks. Be watching for these times coming soon.
